Words of Wisdom (Part 3)

Continuing my list of Nuggests of wisdom we try to live by: Part 1 and Part 2, here are some more words and quotes that help guide and inspire us...
  • Be still and know that I am God. (Psalm 46:10)
  • Examinadlo todo; retend lo bueno. (I Thes. 5:21)
  • Don't sweat the small stuff.
  • Choose your battles wisely: you can't fight them all.
  • Live in the present.
  • What you feed your mind with is what you become.
  • En boca cerrada no entran moscas.
  • Facts. Faith. Feelings. In that order.
  • What God reveals to us in the light should never be doubted when in the dark.
  • Everything that touches me has first passed through the hand of God.

  1. Guy, good stuff once again. Sorry for not responding to your question on your previous post re: where we may be going. We're not sure. South Asia is a hunch, but I dunno. We're trusting Him for guidance in the process. Again, a thousand thanks to you and others. Your blogs, as well as Strider's, Ernest Goodman's, From the Middle East, and others are a tremendous source of food for thought and general insight into cross-cultural ministry.

  2. Hi Guy,

Great post again. I love to hear of those things that guide you in your work - but OK I'm going to take the bait, lol.

Now, hoping not to look too stupid!

    Facts, faith, feelings?

I know that I'm not going to jump out of an aeroplane without a parachute and I do struggle with much of the "faith movement" stuff - but surely, when God leads, faith has to take precedent? After all it was "facts" that made Sarah laugh at Gods promise to Abraham.

    Yours faith-fully

    John

  3. Dienekes,

Thanks for the kind words. The God who has led you thus far will continue to lead you and your family where he will have you serve. You are right, it is a process. We need to walk closely with the Lord so as not to miss the small daily steps that lead us along the path of his will.

    John,

I see your point and it is well taken. What I was referring to was more along the lines that facts are first in that what God says in His Word is true regardless of how I might feel about it. We put our faith in the facts/truth of what He says in his Word and don't allow emotions (feelings) to cloud the truth of what God says.

Words to live by. I have no idea what this says. :) OK Guy, don't make me have to learn Spanish again, translation please. :)

  6. Debbie,

LOL! Sorry about that. It is just that these sayings/verses ring truer in Spanish and sound better than they do in English. Now to the translation: FLIES DON'T ENTER A CLOSED MOUTH.
