If your Gospel isn't touching others, it hasn't touched you! --Curry R. Blake
We must be global Christians with a global vision because our God is a global God. — John Stott
The greatest hindrances to the evangelization of the world are those within the church. --John R. Mott
The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed. --Hudson Taylor
He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose. --Jim Elliot
People who don't believe in missions have not read the New Testament. Right from the beginning Jesus said the field is the world. The early church took Him at His word and went East, West, North and South. -- J. Howard Edington
The Holy Spirit can’t save saints or seats. If we don’t know any non-Christians, how can we introduce them to the Savior? --Paul Little
Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn’t. — John Piper
Evangelization is a process of bringing the gospel to people where they are, not where you would like them to be. When the gospel reaches a people where they are, their response to the gospel is the church in a new place... --Vincent Donovan
The spirit of Christ is the spirit of missions. The nearer we get to Him, the more intensely missionary we become. -- Henry Martyn
How you believe God perceives people will determine how you respond to them. --Jacquelyn K. Heasley
Life is too short and hell is too hot to just play church. --Larry Osborne
Some wish to live within the sound of a chapel bell; I wish to run a rescue mission within a yard of hell. — C.T. Studd
It is possible to do evangelism without planting churches, but it is not possible to plant churches without doing evangelism. --unknown
God's plan in these last days is revival in His worldwide church and through the revived church the reaping of a final great harvest of souls. --N. Grubb
The Church exists for nothing else but to draw men into Christ, to make them little Christs. If they are not doing that, all the cathedrals, clergy, missions, sermons, even the Bible itself, are simply a waste of time. God became Man for no other purpose. --C. S. Lewis
We talk of the Second Coming; half the world has never heard of the first. -- Oswald J. Smith
We Christians are debtors to all men at all times in all places, but we are so smug to the lostness of men. We've been "living in Laodicea ", lax, loose, lustful, and lazy. Why is there this criminal indifference to the lostness of men? Our condemnation is that we know how to live better than we are living. --Leonard Ravenhill
Being an extrovert isn’t essential to EVANGELISM–obedience and love are. --Rebecca M. Pippert
It is now possible to live a "christian life" without doing the things that Jesus commanded us to do. We have hired people to go into all the world, to visit those in prison, to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to care for widows and orphans. The average Christian doesn't have to do it. --Cal Thomas
Missionary zeal does not grow out of intellectual beliefs, nor out of theological arguments, but out of love. -- Roland Allen
Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin, and desire nothing but God, and I care not a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen; such alone will shake the gates of hell and set up the kingdom of heaven on earth. --John Wesley

"If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for." Spurgeon
Some that concern the life we need to live for the world that needs a witness:
"Live simply so that others can simply live." unknown
"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." Jim Elliot
"The kingdom's greatest advancement and the Gospel's greatest potency nearly always blooms from the soil most fertilized with Christian blood and suffering; Further, NO advancement EVER occurs except something in a disciple die first." someone commenting on John 12:1-26
Guy:
Do you know the source of the Piper quote. I certainly agree with the first two sentences, but I am not sure about the final sentence. I would like to read it in context to know better what Piper is trying to say.
BTW, I pray all is well with you, Linda, and the crew.
Debtor Paul,
Thanks for these additions. They're all good, but I think my favorite is the Jim Elliot. He, of course, was one of the martyred missionaries here in Ecuador back in 1956. I am adding this quote to the original list!
Lance,
The Piper quote is from his classic book, "Let the Nations Be Glad." I'd have to look up the exact page, but that is the source.
Linda and I had really wanted to connect with you while we were Stateside last year, but were told you had moved to McKinney. J.D. had tracked down your phone, but before I could get around to calling you, the piece of paper was misplaced and I was too embarrased to call J.D. back! Hopefully we can reconnect one of these days. Maybe you could fly down and do some evangelistic preaching in one of the counties!
Guy, enjoyed your evangelism quotes.
Here are a few picked up along the way.
Trust and obey not
think and decide.
Never doubt in the dark what
God has revealed in the light.
Religion is the system not
the relationship.
Every religion
on the face of the earth says,
you have to do something
to please God.
Jesus alone says,
you already please me and
I will pay the price for you.
Never expect mercy but always show mercy.
Never expect justice but always give justice.
Hurt people hurt people.
Healed people heal people.
Titles are idols and
pastors are masters.
Prestige and titles are just an illusion.
Prestige is not the truth,
Jesus is the truth.
Prestige - websters.
The power to command
admiration or esteem.
The root of the word "prestige"
comes from the Latin præstigum,
meaning a delusion or a trick.
Titles separate.
They say,
I am - You're not.
A. Amos Love,
Thanks for sharing these additional quotes. I especially liked the first two:
Trust and obey not
think and decide.
Never doubt in the dark what
God has revealed in the light.
Do you have authors/sources for these?
Thanks, Guy. I have not read that work by Piper. I will have to make it a point to do that.
Sorry we did not make contact. I did not move to McKinney. I am still in Denton, in the same house I have been for 20 years. I was working for a while in McKinney. It was with the same company, but I transfered from Denton to McKinney. Now, I am in the Gainesville location, which was opened in February 2008. I would love to come down and preach for you. It may be early next year before I can. Starting in January I have three weeks vacation, so I can take a week or some for some South American missions. The easiest way to contact me is by email or on Facebook. I check in there once a day and notice you have an account.
We, my congregation and I, pray for you and Linda regularly. I am not very good at communicating, but I think about you often.
Bueno, que el Señor los bendiga ricamente. Orando sin cesar.

Lance,
Was glad to see your FB invitation. Maybe we can keep up better this way! I am really sorry we weren't able to connect. Linda and I were in Denton quite a bit over the past year, and would have loved to go out for Mexican food to one of those places you always take us that are so good!
January begins the rainy season and lasts until May. But if you can make it down, that would be great. We'd love to have you!
Thanks for the prayers, and be sure and let the church know how much we appreciate them remembering us as well. I've got to do more with our prayernewsletter, but so many of the addresses are no longer valid. Do we have a valid email for you?
I was quite impressed to read on your new blog about your commitment to prayer and fasting, and that you feel more is accomplished through your praying and preaching. I truly believe this is equally true about most anything we do. Prayer is our #1 strategy (at least in word), but it is so hard to do?!
